Missions of Our
Church
Deacons
The First Presbyterian Deacons put the face on our Church in
so many ways. They provide care and concern support for the congregation and friends
within Twin Falls and surrounding Magic Valley. They are elected and ordained leaders in
our Church providing the connection between the Pastor with those needing pastoral care.
The Deacons also spearhead projects in the community like our annual food baskets during the Holidays.
The Scotch Shop
Wednesdays 9:30 pm to 12:30 pm
Drop offs at the office during office hours.
Helping In Our Community

Sometimes it is the "little
things" that make a community great and we strive to be involved in our local
community as well as support mission overseas. We support Pennies for Peace, Safe Harbor lunches for those
who are hungry, cleaning up the highway (see our crew above taking a moment for a photo
opportunity), walking in the Crop Walk, and helping
"Cup of Tea" as well as the
many volunteer opportunities our members participate in.

Mission Committee Report

committee has nine members! They are Betty Benefiel, Phyllis Fletcher,Dorothy Geist, Rene
Horner (chair), Cliff Kinzy, Jacqui Kinzy, Robin Olszynski, Bob Parkinson, and Phil Price.
This is an awesome group to work with as every member is dedicated to doing Gods
work. --- Rene

Recent Committee Designated Giving and Suggested Christmas Giving
Indonesia October 2010 Indonesia is currently
grappling with two disasters that occurred in rapid succession: an earthquake-triggered
tsunami off the west coast of Sumatra October 25 that killed at least 154 people and left
several hundred missing and the October 27 volcanic eruption of Mt. Merapi that has caused
the displacement of hundreds of families.
Indonesia November 2010 Mount Marapi erupted
again on November 3 spewing huge clouds of ash into the sky. The volcanic eruptions of Mt.
Merapi that began on October 25 in Indonesias central Java region have displaced
approximately 70,000 people.
Your Mission committee has agreed to donate $500 to
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Your generous sharing of your financial
blessings provides resources needed to meet basic humanitarian needs of families affected
by this disaster.
First Presbyterian Church of Twin Falls acts in partnership
with South Central Community Action. We send SCCA people in need when they have the
resources to help and they send us people in need when we have the resources they cannot
provide. We
are donating $400 to Community Action so that they will be able to provide people
with money to pay their heating bills this winter.
Alternative Gift Giving There comes a time when your
mother has enough sweaters, your clients have more holiday food than they can eat, and
another toy will just be lost in the shuffle. If youre looking for a different way
to honor the people close to you, why not give the world a present? Heifer International sells food and
income-producing animals like pigs, bees, chicks, and heifers. The animals go to hungry,
rural families working to improve their lives and are delivered with technical training in
animal care and concern for the environment. If you would like to participate in this
alternate gift giving, please pick up a catalog from the Mission table in the Fellowship
Room or go to www.heifer.org and order on-line.
